No charges for driver who ran down 22 pedestrians

The woman driver of a car which ploughed into a group of schoolchildren on the pavement has been told she will not face charges over the incident.

“Following extensive inquiries into the cause of the collision and consultation with the crown prosecution service, medical reports mean police will not take any further action against her.”

A total of nine year 5 pupils from Worlingham Middle School were injured in the accident. Three children were taken to the James Paget University Hospital in Gorleston, another three children and a 21-year-old man were taken to the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital and three more children were taken to Beccles Hospital.

Ambulance crews also dealt with 12 walking wounded and
it was understood the most seriously-injured child suffered a broken pelvis and legs.
